Project Management

Oxford Workspace Furniture's involvement with Project Management is key to our success for a project from its' inception to its' conclusion.  Our role is to provide a fully professional and collaborative support for Project Management to ensure a smooth running and timely project.

We invariably rely on the support of a project management team when in place to secure the contract in the first instance and to then assist our liaison with the Client, Architect, Constructor and other involved parties.

Project Management can be a challenging role in any project and we trust that we are fully cognisant and supportive of that position.

Oxford Workspace Furniture have worked on several projects with PDCM, both large and small. PDCM are involved in providing full project management services to the University of Oxford and at the core of this has been the development of the Science Area, producing a Masterplan for its' continuing and future commitment to several new buildings.

PDCM are also placed at the heart of the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter development, which has so far produced the re-furbished Radcliffe Infirmary itself in addition to the new Mathematics Institute and the Blavatnik School of Government.

Construction

Oxford Workspace Furniture have worked closely with various construction companies throughout their projects and in some cases have carried out the installation of the furniture for a project in full PPE conditions.  This places extra responsibility and demands on the installation team in terms of both personnel safety and that of the furniture itself, given the potential for damage during the delivery and assembly process.

Installation under PPE conditions highlights the additional need for close co-operation with other teams on site who may still be involved in actual construction or at the very least, snagging activities.

A key area is the successful planning of logistical operations for the arrival, unloading and despatch of articulated and other support vehicles when space is often under pressure.

Oxford Workspace Furniture are committed to this demanding type of furniture project work and here are a few examples.

Oxford Workspace Furniture has been pleased to work with Laing O'Rourke on both the Department of Biochemistry and Radcliffe Infirmary projects at the University of Oxford. Both projects were carried out under PPE conditions and under time constraints to get the furniture installed at the same time as hand-over of the building to the Client.

Laing O'Rourke have been instrumental in assisting in the development of this project part of Oxford Seating's business and we have learnt from them. We have developed a clear understanding of how we should operate alongside a construction company on a project and assist them in the overall fullfillment of time and logistical constraints whilst at the same time ensuring the safety of all personnel concerned.

Oxford Workspace Furniture have worked with Mace Plus after handover at the Tinsley Building at the University of Oxford for example.  This required liaison with on-site representatives and project management from Mace to ensure the effective installation of furniture in public office and laboratory areas.

Additionally, we have worked with Mace providing them with furniture for their own construction site support buildings on the Nuffield Department of Medicine building, where Oxford Seating also provided all the laboratory chairs, as well as to the second phase of this project which was the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology.
